Wine Isotope Analyzer (δ2H, δ18O, alcohol %)

Wine Isotope Analyzer (δ2H, δ18O, alcohol %)

LGR's Liquid Water Isotope Analyzer is the only Analyzer in the world capable of direct measurements of wines and other alcoholic beverages. Denoted the "Wine Isotope Analyzer," the Analyzer can report measurements of δ18O and δ2H in wine directly without pretreatment or distillation. Measurements of both δ18O and δ2H are reported rapidly at the rate of 800 injections per day, which corresponds to at least 110 unknowns per day (with 6 injections per sample). The Analyzer allows authentication and identification of counterfeit or diluted wines and may be applied for measurements of other alcoholic beverages and products.  In addition, the Wine Isotope Analyzer is capable of accurately determining the alcohol concentration (%) of the wine simultaneously, eliminating the need for costly conventional instrumentation (HPLC) specifically for that sole purpose.

LGR’s Analyzers are used by researchers, scientists, governmental agencies and intergovernmental organizations on all 7 continents.

LGR’s patented technology, a fourth-generation cavity enhanced absorption technique, has many significant advantages (simpler, easier to build, rugged) over older, conventional cavity ringdown spectroscopy (CRDS) techniques. As a result, LGR Analyzers provide higher performance at much lower cost.

All LGR analyzers have an internal computer (Linux OS) that can store data practically indefinitely on an internal hard disk drive and send real time data to a data logger via the digital (RS232) or Ethernet outputs.  In addition, the Analyzer includes LGR’s acclaimed Post Analysis Software which automatically applies calibration standard measurements made during the sample run, graphically displays all results, and fully diagnoses instrument operation. Moreover, the Post Analysis Software includes LGR’s proprietary Spectral Contamination Identifier (SCI) technology, the only software proven to accurately quantify, and correct for, the presence of organic contaminants in water samples. The effectiveness of this technology is even further validated by the unique ability to quantify isotopic ratios directly in wines.

All LGR analyzers may be fully controlled remotely via the Internet. This capability allows the user to operate the analyzer using a web browser anywhere. Furthermore, remote access allows full control of the instrument and the opportunity to obtain and share data and diagnose the instrument operation without being on site.
